Data centres on demand
The corporate market is
indicating a shift in demand for high quality
data centres to deliver the information
technology and telecommunication
infrastructure critical to today's business
and government sectors. The need for data
centres is driven by the recognition that
today's technology requirements need to
be in a purpose built environment.
Old solutions meet constraints
Organisations are reaching their capacity and
old data centres or modified commercial
grade buildings no longer meet the demand.
Computer or communication rooms within
office buildings are no longer appropriate;
they are constrained by limited power and
cooling resources. It is also recognised that
old data centres do not have sustainable
power solutions, or the resources to
accommodate technology and growth
requirements of the future.
Security and disaster recovery
The need for security has moved beyond
common theft and tampering. This is a
time where natural and man-made
disasters make marks in history.
Unfortunate events (such as the 9/11
terrorist attacks, Hurricane Katrina
and the European floods in 2005) have made
organisations acknowledge the need for
disaster recovery preparations, and the
importance of maintaining computer
systems and information in a safe,
secure, fire and flood proof environment.
